When you think of showjumping in WA, you naturally think of LES BUNNING.

This icon in WA showjumping first got involved in Pony Club when he was about 8 years old and when he was 12 his dad bought him a young horse called Glenara. The horse was a really good jumper and Les was sent to Art Utendaal for training.

Glenara was his first successful horse. He won the Victorian Junior Champs on him in 1966. He then took him on to senior success and a trip to New Zealand in the Australian team in 1973. Gay Scott was his most successful horse, winning the Australian Championships in 1977. He has won 2 Australian titles, the Bond Australian Derby, ridden in over 70 World Cup Qualifiers, and partnered Gay Scott to win Australian Showjumper of the Year.

He was voted Showjumping Coach of the year for 2007 and is a member of the 2008 State Jumping Squad.

Les gives regular lessons at Brookleigh on Tuesdays.
